MarbLED: Embedded and Transmissive LED Touch Display System and Its Application Platform for Surface Computing with Engineered Marble
We propose and develop MarbLED, which can change existing kitchen worktops or counters with engineered marble into a surface computing platform. The hardware was assembled with through-hole packages previously. We have designed and assembled surface-mount packages for sensing boards for the MarbLED system. In addition, we have also developed the software platform for MarbLED as a software development kit to facilitate and enable the implementation of various applications easily. As a result, this system can be installed and used in the kitchen more practically and realistically. This paper describes the outline of the hardware and the functions of the application software platform. This paper also introduces various example applications implemented for smart kitchens using the software development kit.
