Immersive technologies such as mixed reality (MR) are gradually emerging from laboratory testing to real-world applications. However, the real-world applications of mixed reality technology raise more complex human-value issues than in laboratory scenarios. The aim of this Ph.D. research is to understand human values in MR technology on different population groups and how to address future challenges. The main contributions of this research are (1) a review of human values in mixed reality technology, (2) a workshop framework for exploring human values in the context of mixed reality, and (3) a set of challenges and solutions in human-oriented MR applications.
